Weekend Update – Orillia OPP

(ORILLIA, ON.) – Over the weekend, the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received 117 calls for service. Police responded to calls received from Severn Township, Ramara Township, and the City of Orillia. The time frame is from Friday night at 6:00 p.m. until Monday morning at 6:00 a.m.

There were various calls for service consisting of noise complaints, alarms, 911 hang-ups, domestic/family disputes, Liquor Licence Act complaints, mischief complaints, motor vehicle collisions and impaired drivers.

On January 9, 2016 at approximately 1:16 a.m., the Orillia OPP was dispatched to a possible impaired driver in a parking lot on Mississaga Street East in the City of Orillia. Officers attended the location and arrested the male driver after he reversed out of a parking spot and struck their cruiser.

Darryl HERBERT, 41 years old of Severn Township, has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80 mgs Blood/Alcohol. He was released on a Promise to Appear in Orillia court on January 19, 2016.

On January 9, 2016 at approximately 9:57 p.m., the Orillia OPP stopped a vehicle at a RIDE (Reduced Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot check at West Street North and Brant Street in the City of Orillia. Officers arrested the male driver after he failed a breath test on a road side screening device.

Michael MCCAULEY, 25 years old of Severn Township, has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80 mgs Blood/Alcohol. He was released on a Promise to Appear in Orillia court on January 26, 2016.
