Weekend Update For Orillia OPP

(ORILLIA, ON.) – Over the past weekend, the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received 166 calls for service. Police responded to calls received from Severn Township, Ramara Township and the City of Orillia. The time frame is from Friday night at 6:00 p.m. until Monday morning at 6:00 a.m.

There were various calls for service consisting of noise complaints, alarm, 911 hang-ups, motor vehicle collisions, domestic/family disputes, Liquor Licence Act complaints, mischief complaints and fires.

On May 2, 2015 at approximately 7:23 p.m., the Orillia OPP was dispatched to a fire on Evergreen Terrace in Severn Township. When officers arrived at scene Severn Fire fighters were attempting to extinguish the fire. No one was in the home at the time of the fire.

The Orillia OPP Crime Unit is currently investigating the fire as suspicious in nature.

On May 4, 2015 at approximately 12:20 a.m., the Orillia OPP was dispatched to a fire on Elgin Street in the City of Orillia. When officers arrived at scene Orillia Fire fighters were attempting to extinguish the fire. Residents of the home left safely and there were no injuries.

The Orillia OPP is currently investigating the fire.
