(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) Around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday November 06, 2010 Perth County OPP officers where called to an All Terrain Vehicle roll-over near the intersection of Line 75 and Road 172 west of Atwood.
Upon Police and Ambulance arrival, the operator of the ATV had left the scene and was stopped in a farmer’s field well south of the roll-over location. Police entered the field but upon nearing the ATV with a cruiser the ATV became mobile. The cruisers lights and siren were activated as it drove along side the ATV. The ATV operator did not stop the machine but drove off in a south bound direction.
A short while later an officer observed the suspect ATV in Atwood. The operator stopped the ATV in the driveway and walked to the residence. The officer detected signs of impairment on the operator and subsequently arrested him. Breath samples were obtained from the ATV operator at the North Perth OPP Detachment in Listowel.
Wayne Jacklin (42) of the Municipality of North Perth was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with over 80 mgs. of alcohol, flight from police and operating a motor vehicle while being disqualified. He is scheduled to appear in Atwood criminal court on December 22, 2010 to answer to these charges.
