Volunteers Clean up the Town, Because Town Staff Won’t

A volunteer group in Wingham has decided to clean up our main
street, by painting flag poles, the canon outside the museum,
bollards and trimming weeds by our community trail.  It is
obvious town staff wasn’t going to do it this year, and somebody had
to.  This is more proof that town staff won’t pick up a paint
brush, just in case town hall wasn’t proof enough for you.

At the last council meeting, the Wingham BIA had a slide show of
before and after pictures, many of town infrastructure, and told
council it only took a few hours.  This presentation clearly
showed that town workers have not been maintaining our
infrastructure.  This did not embarrass council or staff in the
least.  Not one person on council asked why town staff weren’t
doing their jobs, making it necessary for volunteers to do what we
pay town staff to do.

WFP has received several complaints about these volunteers doing the
work of town staff, staff which cost us $5.2 Million a year.
These people appreciate the work the volunteers have done, but
believe it is enabling town staff to be slackers”
