VEHICLE STOP RESULTS IN ARRESTS AND CHARGES FOR DRUG POSSESSION

(THUNDER BAY, ON) On Monday, July 7, 2014 at approximately 12:20 pm, an officer from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Highway 11/17 in the Municipality of Shuniah.

Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected an odour of Marihuana emitting from the vehicle. Further investigation resulted in the seizure of approximately 84 grams of Cannabis Marihuana which was located within the vehicle.

The following individuals have been arrested and charged;

Kristen JOHNSTON, 25 years of age, from Waterloo, Ont,

Daniel FERRON, 29 years of age, from Fort Erie, Ont,

Patrick GAUDET, 29 years of age, from Port Hope, Ont,

Richard IRELAND, 41 years of age, from Toronto, Ont.

They have all been charged with Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana over 30 grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

They are to appear in Provincial Court on August 26 2014 to answer to the charge.
