VEHICLE STOP LEADS TO DRUG SEIZURE

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNHIP, ON) – On November 9, 2014 at approximately 7:30 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) investigated the occupants of a 1994 Chevrolet that was travelling on St. Andrew Street East at St. David Street North in Fergus, Centre Wellington Township.

While speaking with the occupants, police detected the strong odour of fresh marihuana inside the vehicle. When questioned about the odour, the male passenger surrendered a quantity of marihuana to the officer.

Christopher SMITH age 35 of Fergus has been charged with Possession of Marihuana Under 30 Grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on December 19, 2014 to answer to the charge.
