Occurrence Type: Vehicle into Pole Leads to Impaired and Drug Charges

On Tuesday, March 15th, 2016 at approximately 10:15am Barrie Police attended Wellington Street West, in the City of Barrie, in regards to a single vehicle collision. Upon arrival Police observed a vehicle had hit a cement light barrier causing extensive damage to both the vehicle and the pole.
Upon further investigation Police conducted a roadside breath test on the driver and he blew a fail. The male was arrested for operate motor vehicle Over 80 and upon further investigation Police found amounts of suspected cocaine and suspected marihuana in his possession.
The male was transported to the Barrie Police Service where he provided his breath samples and was found almost two times the legal limit. His license was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days. He was released on a Promise to Appear with a future court date at the end of March.
