Vehicle Bicycle Collision Results In Injuries

On Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at approximately 7:15 p.m., a 25 year old Guelph man was riding his bicycle in the parking lot of a plaza located at the southeast corner of Gordon Street and Clair Road East.

The cyclist rode diagonally through the parking lot toward the southeast corner of the intersection.

Concurrently, a motor vehicle was travelling northbound on Gordon St. (facing a green traffic signal), and turned right (eastbound) onto Clair Road. East.

The cyclist entered the intersection from the plaza parking lot – without stopping.

The front of the bicycle struck the passenger side of the motor vehicle.

This collision resulted in minimal injury to the cyclist.

Investigation determined that the bicycle did not have functioning brakes.

The cyclist was charged with Fail to Yield pursuant to the Highway Traffic Act.
