VanGROOTEL – 117 in a 50

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH/ERAMOSA, ON) – On Sunday September 3, 2017 at approximately 10:00 a.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 124 at the east edge of Guelph. The officer observed a male driving a 2005 Dodge Ram travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at 117 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

35-year-old Thomas C. J. VanGROOTEL of Kitchener has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on November 1, 2017.His driver’s licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
