(ESPANOLA, ON)- On May 22, 2016, at 12:48 a.m., members of the Espanola Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a traffic stop on Highway 17 west of the town of Massey.
During the traffic stop, it was determined that the driver had consumed alcohol. As a result of the investigation, Vanessa JOLICOEUR, 27 years of age, from Sudbury, was arrested and charged with the following:
1. Driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle (Alcohol), contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
2. Driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
The accused driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle she was operating was impounded for seven (7) days.
The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola, on July 12, 2016, to answer to her charges.
The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol or drug consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
