(PEMBROKE, ON) During the week of the 29th of June to the 05th of July members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment investigated 342 incidents including mischief, thefts, domestic disputes, and motor vehicle collisions.
Motor Vehicle Collisions
During the week of the 29th of June to the 05th of July members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment investigated 24 motor vehicle collisions. 23 collisions were property damage collisions and 1 was a personal injury collision.
RIDE
During the week of the 29th of June to the 05th of July members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment conducted 34 RIDE programs. The OPP is reminding drivers that any amount of alcohol or drugs can impair one’s ability to drive. If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi, stay overnight or use public transit.
Impaired/Over 80mg
As the result of a RIDE program in Laurentian Valley Township on June 30 police have charged 43 year old Joanne DEMERS of Pembroke with Impaired Driving and with Driving with More Than 80mg of Alcohol in her Blood. DEMERS was release on a Promise to Appear with a court date of July 28th at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
Drug Offences
On June 30th police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Town of Petawawa. Police discovered a quantity of marihuana in the motor vehicle and as a result 22 year old Devon EGAN of Pembroke and 22 year old Travis SCHEEL of Pembroke are each charged with Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA). Both males were released to appear on July 28th at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
On July 1st police checked a parked vehicle with two occupants in the Town of Petawawa. Police found one of the occupants to be in possession of a quantity of marihuana. As a result Tyler Frank PACE, age 22 of Deep River, is charged with Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – contrary to the CDSA. PACE was release with a court date of July 28th at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
Mischief
On June 30th it was reported to police that sometime overnight the windshield was damaged on a parked car in the City of Pembroke. There are no suspects at this time.
Theft
On the 29th of June two metal lawn chairs were report stolen from the side of a residence in Laurentian Valley Township. The chairs were taken sometime in the late evening of June 28th or in the early morning hours of June 29th. Both chairs were described as being black in colour. There are no suspects.
On July 2nd an unlocked bicycle was reported stolen from outside the Pita Shack restaurant in Pembroke. The bicycle was taken sometime between the late evening of July 1st and the morning hours of July 2nd. The bicycle is described as an adult size 2012 Nakaura mountain bike. The bicycle is black and yellow in colour. There are no suspects at this time.
On July 3rd a computer tablet was stolen from inside Joe’s Family Pizzeria in Pembroke. A suspect has been identified and the investigation is continuing.
Domestic Disputes
During the week of the 29th of June to the 05th of July members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP detachment investigated 21 domestic disputes. As a result,
· One adult male was charged with Assault contrary to the Criminal Code.
· One adult female was charged with two counts of Uttering Threats and one count of Mischief Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code
