(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County detachment conducted a stolen vehicle investigation at a Charlotteville Road 10, Norfolk County, Ontario address.
On Saturday July 18, 2015 at approximately 2:54 a.m., police observed suspicious vehicle activity travelling along Highway (Hwy) 3, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario. The vehicles were followed as they turned onto Charlotteville Road 10 and then a short distance away they turned into a farm driveway.
A second Police unit attended the scene and occupants of an involved vehicle were confronted which led to their arrests. A search of this vehicle revealed a firearm.
A third person was observed fleeing the area on foot and with the assistance of the OPP Canine Unit he was subsequently located and arrested.
Other involved persons had entered a garage on the farm and due to public safety concerns and a firearm being involved the OPP Tactical Rescue Unit (TRU) and OPP Emergency Response Unit (ERT) was called to the scene.
After several hours of investigation the suspects in the garage were taken into custody.
As a result of investigation, police have arrested and charged three males involved in this incident.
Charged with the following offences is 23-year-old Connor Joseph Charles SMITH of Norfolk County, Ontario.
Possession of Cocaine.
Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
Altering/destroying/removing a vehicle identification number.
Tampering with serial number of a firearm.
Careless storage of firearm.
Unauthorized possession of firearm.
Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 X2 is 22-year-old Jacob Aaron DAVIS of the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation, Ontario.
Charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 X2 is 25-year-old Kenneth Anderson DAVIS of Brantford, Ontario.
All will appear in Provincial Court, Simcoe at a later date to answer to the charges.
