UPDATE: SHANTY BAY AREA RESIDENT ASSAULTED

(ORO-MEDONTE TOWNSHIP, ON) – Yesterday morning, at approximately 7:45AM, Barrie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of an assault at residence located on Barrie Terrace in the Village of Shanty Bay. A 67-year old male, who was transported to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre with what were described as non-life threatening injuries was subsequently treated and released.

Although the person responsible for this incident appears to have eluded the police for the time being, the investigation into this assault remains ongoing by members of the Barrie OPP Detachment Crime Unit. The Barrie Police Service (BPS) is also assisting in attempts to locate the person responsible as this incident occurred within very close proximity to the City of Barrie.

Also, OPP Detectives are interested in speaking with the driver of a red coloured pickup truck that was in the Barrie Terrace area yesterday morning between 7:45-8:00AM as they could have valuable information that may assist with the investigation.

The updated description of the suspect is:

Male white

Slight build in his late 20’s

Approximately 6’ with a narrow face and grey stubble

Wearing a grayish/blue toque and a mid-length jacket, possibly blue in colour

Appeared to have been in a somewhat confused or agitated state.
