(Bracebridge, Ontario) The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Bracebridge detachment is investigating a fatal tractor trailer collision on Highway 11 Southbound North of Alpine Ranch Road.
At approximately 9:00 pm on September 18, 2013 OPP were called to the scene of the collision. Preliminary investigation revealed that the tractor trailer carrying a large cattle amount of cattle exited the roadway colliding with a rock cut.
The driver 52 year-old Ronald ALDCORN of Osprey Township was killed in the collision.
The cause of the collision is unknown as the investigation is currently ongoing.
Highway 11 southbound is currently closed until the investigation is complete. Traffic is being re-routed to Stephenson Road 1West with a detour in place.
The OPP officers from the Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit, the Central Region Traffic Unit and Bracebridge Detachment are continuing to investigate the collision. Highway 11 at Stephenson Road 1 is expected to remain closed for several hours for the investigation.
The OPP is asking motorists to avoid the area of the collision and take alternate routes to their destination.
