As previously reported, on July 19, 2014 at approximately 8:00 pm, the Chatham-Kent Police Service received an emergency call in regards to a single motor vehicle collision on Wheatley Road, at Tilbury West-Romney. The investigation revealed that a black 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was traveling southwest on Wheatley Road where it approached a left-hand bend in the road. The vehicle left the roadway on the right-hand shoulder, then came back onto the roadway crossing the centre line into the oncoming lane, where it collided into the side of the ditch on the east side of the roadway. This caused the vehicle to rotate, ejecting the driver who sustained critical injuries and was transported to a hospital in Windsor.
Blood samples were taken and sent to the Centre of Forensic Sciences for analysis. The results of that analysis indicate that the driver’s blood alcohol concentration was almost four times the legal limit.
Yesterday, police charged Michael James MURRAY, 31 years, of Beach Boulevard in Wheatley with the following offences:
Dangerous Driving
Impaired Driving
Driving with a Blood Alcohol Concentration Exceeding the Legal Limit
Stunt Driving
Driving Without Wearing a Seatbelt
