UPDATE: Police Investigate Serious Three Vehicle Collision – Road Reopened

(ADELAIDE-METCALFE, ON) – Centre Road just south of Highway 402 has been reopened after a serious three vehicle collision.

On August 15, 2013 at approximately 2:06 p.m. Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), fire and paramedics responded to the collision. A black Chrysler car from Michigan exited eastbound Highway 402 at Centre Road. The car entered onto Centre Road when it collided with a dump truck. A northbound water tanker truck was also involved in the collision.

The female was extricated from the vehicle by fire crews and was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The female remains in critical condition. An elderly male was transported by ambulance to hospital. He remains in serious but stable condition.

The drivers of the trucks were transported to Strathroy hospital with minor injuries and have since been released.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) Team responded to assist with the investigation.

The identities of the injured are being withheld pending next of kin notification.

Police want to remind motorists the importance of obeying road closure signage. There are numerous reasons why police may be required to close a roadway such as hazardous conditions, officer safety and to maintain the integrity of an investigation. Failure to obey the signage could result in a ticket and more importantly could put lives at risk. The fine for driving on a closed highway is $85 plus court costs.
