On December 3, 2013, at 7:20 p.m., the Guelph Police attended to Dawson Road to investigate the report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. It is alleged that a 26-year-old Guelph man was operating a 1995 four door Mazda southbound on Dawson Road. His vehicle struck a pedestrian, a 60-year-old Guelph man, who was crossing Dawson Road.
The pedestrian was transported to the Guelph General Hospital and later airlifted to St. Michaels Hospital in Toronto. The pedestrian suffered serious injuries.
A portion of Dawson Road was closed for five hours while investigators investigated the collision.
Update- The pedestrian remains hospitalized with serious injuries. The 26 year old driver of the motor vehicle was charged with driving without a valid driver’s licence, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and a summons has also been requested for the driver operating an unsafe vehicle, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
