(SCHREIBER, ON.) -During the early morning hours of September 7, 2014 members of the Schreiber Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call of a dispute at a residence. During the investigation, a male involved in the incident damaged an unattended police cruiser by lighting it on fire, and then left the scene. Officers with the assistance of the North West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the North West Region Canine Unit searched for the male involved.
The search ended at approximately 12:10 a.m. on September 8, 2014 when the suspect was located and arrested by officers in the Town of Terrace Bay.
The 36 year old male of Terrace Bay, Ontario, has been arrested and charged with Assault and Arson Damage to Property contrary to the Criminal Code. The male remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the court on September 10, 2014 to answer to these charges.
The name of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the victim.
