(DRYDEN, ON.) -On July 21st 2014 at approximately 07:50 a.m. a collision occurred on Highway 17 at Bedworth Road in the City of Dryden in front of the Dryden OPP detachment. The collision involved a passenger vehicle that was turning westbound onto Highway 17 from Bedworth Road and a motorcycle that was travelling eastbound on Highway 17.
The driver of the motor vehicle, Madelaine Arseneault of Dryden suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from hospital. The driver of the motorcycle, Daniel Badiuk (37) of Dryden, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Thunder Bay for further treatment.
The highway was closed until 12:30 CST, while OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators conduct their investigation, but is now open to one lane.
This incident is still under investigation.
The driver of the motorcycle, Daniel Badiuk (37 years old) of Dryden succumbed to his injuries at the hospital in Thunder Bay on the 23 July 2014. The driver of the motor vehicle, Madelaine Areseneault (20 years old) of Dryden has been charged with Fail to Yield to Traffic on through Highway contrary to Section 136(1)(b) of the Highway Traffic Act.
