Update: Identity of homicide victim confirmed
(Ottawa) A post mortem examination has confirmed the identity of a body discovered Sunday in Ottawa. The victim is Melissa Kelly RICHMOND, 28 years old, of North Dundas Township.
The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) now consider this case a homicide.
She was last seen leaving her residence on July 24th and her vehicle was located on July 26th in Ottawa’s south end. She was the subject of a missing person investigation led by the OPP.
The OPS Major Crime Section and OPP Criminal Investigation Branch are conducting a joint investigation. There is no information available about possible suspect(s) at this time.
