Update: Head-on Collision

(NIPIGON, ON.) On August 21, 2013 at approximately 10:04 p.m. a head on collision on Hwy 17, Township of Syine was reported to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Schreiber Detachment. An east bound Honda civic and a west bound Mercedes sport utility vehicle collided head on in a construction zone. The vehicle occupants, two drivers and one passenger, were transported to hospital by emergency services for injuries sustained in the collision.

As a result of the investigation, the driver of the Honda civic, a 30 year old male of Barrie, Ontario, has been charged with Fail to Share Roadway with meeting Vehicle, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Hwy 17 was closed for approximately two hours for police investigation at the time of the collision.
