(BLIND RIVER, ON) – On Thursday, February 13, 2014 at approximately 7 a.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision 1 km east of Blind River.
The collision involved a westbound tractor trailer and an eastbound sports utility vehicle (SUV). The lone occupant of the tractor trailer, Gary W. TYSKA (61) of Thunder Bay, Ontario was treated for minor injuries. The lone occupant of the SUV, David DENNIE, 36, of Blind River, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Officers with the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI), Reconstructionists and Highway Safety Division are assisting with the investigation.
Highway 17 east of Blind River is open to alternating traffic. The investigation is ongoing.
