(CITY OF TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – On May 21, 2015 at approximately 5:45 p.m. the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) located the body of a deceased male who has been identified as Christian GAREAU, 23, of Stouffville.
No foul play is suspected. A post mortem is scheduled to be completed.
On May 20, 2015 at approximately 7:00 p.m. four men set out in a canoe to go fishing. For reasons unknown, the canoe capsized and three of the four occupants had safely returned to shore. None of the occupants in this vessel were wearing personal floatation devices (PFD).
If you unexpectedly find yourself in the water, conditions such as wind, waves, temperature and more can impede your ability to locate and fasten a PFD. Never underestimate the protection a floatation device can afford you.
