Unlicenced Driver Charged With Possession of Drugs

(HURON EAST, ON) – A Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) checkpoint located on Orchard Line and Alexander Street in Brussels yielded criminal charges this past Saturday. Just after 3:30 p.m. on July 6, 2013 a silver Lexus entered the R.I.D.E checkpoint. Upon speaking with the driver and passenger officers detected the odour of an illegal drug coming from inside the vehicle. The driver was questioned and she turned over a small quantity of suspected marihuana to the officers. The driver and passenger were both promptly arrested. Officers searched the vehicle and seized an additional quantity of suspected marihuana hidden in the vehicle. Further checks revealed the driver held an expired driver’s licence.

Cynthia RAMON (32) from Kitchener has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act and Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence. She is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on August 12, 2013 to answer to the charge.

Also charged is passenger, Neil MORRISON, age 32, from Waterloo. He is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on August 12, 2013 to answer to the charge.
