(CLEARVIEW TOWNSHIP, ON.) – Today members of the Clearview Community Policing Committee and members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police in partnership with two local “L.C.B.O.†stores (Stayner and Creemore) launched a unique traffic safety initiative in the Township of Clearview.
Since 2009 the Clearview Community Policing Committee has been asking elementary school age students to create artwork that depicts a “Don’t Drink And Drive†theme. This artwork then gets glue onto L.C.B.O. paper liquor bags and given individuals who purchase alcohol from either the L.C.B.O. stores in the Town of Stayner or Village of Creemore. It is hoped that these bags with a “Don’t Drink And Drive†artwork on it will be a strong reminder to individuals receiving them over this long weekend.
To date since 2009 the Clearview Community Policing Committee has produced and provided a total of 2850 of these bags for use in this initiative.
In 2014 the Clearview Community Policing Committee produced and provided over 300 of these enhanced paper liquor bags to the above L.C.B.O. stores.
Drinking and driving still remains one of the major causes of collisions and fatal motor vehicle collisions on our roadways.
