On October 19, 2015 at 12:37 p.m., the Guelph Police were called to the area of Edinburgh Road North for a hit and run motor vehicle collision. It is alleged that a male operating a 2001 black V/W Jetta on Edinburgh at a high rate of speed collided with the vehicle in front of him who was stopped for a traffic signal at Speedvale Avenue. The driver of the Jetta reversed and then proceeded to flee the scene. The driver was located a short distance away and arrested.
David Aliko, 18 years of Guelph has been charged with fail to remain at the scene of an accident and dangerous driving. He was also charged with driving without insurance under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act, as well as fail to surrender driver’s licence and fail to display two plates under the Highway Traffic Act. He will appear in court on December 1, 2015.
