(KIRLAND LAKE, ON) The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, South Porcupine Drug Unit supported by the Kirkland Lake OPP Detachment have charged 45 individuals with drug related offences following arrests conducted in the Kirkland Lake area on Wednesday July 16, 2014.
The charges stem from a seven month long undercover investigation.
The investigation focused on disrupting a drug distribution network operating in the Kirkland Lake area. With the assistance of the OPP Emergency Response Team, the OPP Canine Unit and the Sureté Du Quebec the investigation concluded with the execution of eight search warrants in the Kirkland Lake area and one search warrant in LaSarre, Quebec.
Forty five individuals have been charged with 250 drug related offences. Cocaine, methamphetamine, marihuana, cannabis resin and morphine was purchased and seized along with $12,500 cash and two vehicles. The street value of the drugs purchased and seized is approximately $150,000.
