U-Haul Driver Facing Impaired Charge – Passenger Facing Drug Charges – Names Released

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) – A Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check being conducted by Wellington County OPP Officers has resulted in a driver and his passenger being charged.

On August 30, 2017 at approximately 2:20 p.m. officers were conducting RIDE checks on Conservation Road, Township of Guelph-Eramosa. A male driver of U-Haul van entered the RIDE program.

The driver proceeded to provide false names to the officer at the scene and was unable to produce any proof of a drivers licence. The driver was detained and provided a true identification.

22-year-old Dominick KNIGHT of Guelph has been charged with:

Obstruct Peace officer

Personation with Intent

Fail to Comply with Recognizance

Possess Marihuana

Drive motor vehicle – no licence

He was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of October 10, 2017 to answer to the charges.

A search of the motor vehicle incident to arrest resulted in police locating marihuana inside a suitcase belonging to the female passenger. The suitcase also contained scales and other drug trafficking paraphernalia. A further search of the vehicle also located Heroin residue.

After the female passenger was placed under arrest for possession for the purpose of trafficking a search was conducted on her persons. Police located a small baggy with a white crystal like substance believed to be crystal meth.

21-year-old Rachel DRYFHOUT of Southwold Township has been charged with:

Possession for the purpose of Trafficking – Marihuana

Possession of Crystal Meth

Possession of Heroin

She was released on a promise to appear with a court date of October 10, 2017 to answer to the charges.
