(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On January 22, 2016 at 4:23 p.m., a member of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was southbound patrolling Highway 400 in McDougall Township when a vehicle passed the subdued marked cruiser at a high rate of speed. The officer stopped the vehicle and during the investigation a search of the vehicle led to the seizure of cannabis marihuana.
The driver, Tyler SIMON, 31 years of age from Sudbury, was arrested and charged with:
Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 grams as per the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).
Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Resin – over 1 gram as per the CDSA.
Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Methylenedioxyamphetamine (Ecstasy) as per the CDSA.
Race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).
The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on February 18, 2016 to answer to his charges.
