Two Vehicle Collision South Of Sebringville

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) – On Friday May 06, 2016, shortly after 4 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Perth Road 130 and Perth Line 20 (south of Sebringville).

Investigation revealed that a Toyota sedan was travelling south bound on Perth Road 130 approaching Perth Line 20. The Toyota came to a stop and then proceeded into the intersection striking the rear corner of a Jeep Wrangler. The Wrangler was travelling west bound on the through road, Perth Line 20. The impact resulted in the Jeep driver to lose control and enter the ditch area to the south west corner of the intersection. The Jeep rolled and landed upright on its wheels.

The 40-year-old male driver of the Jeep, an Exeter resident, did not sustain injuries as a result of the crash. The 83 year old driver of the Toyota, a resident of Stratford was also not injured.

Investigation into this collision is continuing.

The Perth County OPP can’t stress enough that motorists need to be cognizant of their actions at the over 1,000 stop sign controlled intersections within Perth County. Many intersections have “two way stops”, which often control the crossing of roads with speed limits of 80 km/h. (The higher the speed, the greater the possibility of serious injury or death when drivers fail to stop and yield at these locations).

At stop sign controlled intersections, you must come to a stop, look, and avoid distractions. Driving demands your full attention.
