(EAST ZORRA – TAVISTOCK TOWNSHIP, ON.) – On Friday, April 1, 2016, the Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two vehicle collision involving a pick-up truck and a minivan at the intersection of Maplewood Sideroad and the 13th Concession in East Zorra-Tavistock Township. The intersection is controlled north and southbound by stop signs on the 13th Concession.
The collision occurred at approximately 9:00 a.m., when the minivan which was travelling southbound on the 13th Concession failed to stop at the stop sign and was struck by the pick-up truck which was travelling eastbound on Maplewood Sideroad. Both vehicles came to rest in the southeast ditch.
The adult female driver of the pick-up truck and the 10-month-old male, infant passenger were transported to area hospital where they were treated and released for minor injuries. The female driver of the minivan was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Three youth passengers in the minivan were also treated at the scene. One female youth, 11-years-old was transported by air ambulance to area hospital, with serious but non-life threatening injuries. One 5-year-old female passenger was transported to hospital for non-life threatening injuries. One 8-year old female, was transported to hospital where she was treated for minor injuries.
The area roads were closed for several hours to assist with the investigation.
The collision remains under investigation.
