Two Three Day Suspensions Issued

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On January 25, 2015, Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers issued two separate three day suspensions as a result of traffic stops.

The first stop was shortly after 2:30 a.m. on Highway 40, near Colborne Street. While the officer was speaking with the male driver, it was determined that he had been consuming alcoholic beverages. A roadside test was completed which resulted in the 55 year old driver, from Chatham, being issued a three day driver’s licence suspension.

Later that day, just after 10 p.m., a Chatham-Kent OPP officer conducted a traffic stop on Highway 401 westbound, near Merlin Road. The 43 year old driver, from Windsor, completed a roadside test which resulted in a warn range suspension, and he was subsequently served with a three day driver’s licence suspension.

Chatham-Kent OPP would like to remind drivers that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. If you consume alcoholic beverages, plan for a safe ride home by using a designated driver, a taxi or public transit to ensure that you and others sharing the road arrive safely.
