Two Suspects Armed With Shotguns At Large – Descriptions Released

(WEST PERTH, ON) – Members from the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment along with West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) members and a Canine Team are currently on scene in the Town of Mitchell searching for two break & enter suspects.

This morning just before 10:00 a.m., a passerby was driving by farm residence located on Line 46 between Mitchell and Monkton when he noticed two thieves preparing to load an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) into a U-Haul truck. The passerby found this to be suspicious so he turned around and went back to check on the property. The suspects immediately left the scene in the U-Haul and headed into Mitchell. Police were subsequently notified about the incident.

A short time later police located the abandoned GMC U-Haul at the Mitchell Arena parking lot located on Wellington Street. Police have secured the U-Haul and a search for the two male suspects is currently underway.

Officers returned to the break and enter scene on Line 46 to discover the thieves had forced entry into a detached shed and stole three firearms and a quantity of cash.

The stolen firearms are described as follows:

· A Baikal, 20 gauge, double barrelled shotgun, with a wooden stock,

· A Browning, 12 gauge, pump action shotgun, with a wooden stock,

· A black .22 – 250 calibre rifle

The two suspects were last seen on foot heading west on Rowland Street in Mitchell.

The suspects are described as young males in their mid 20’s. Both were wearing blue jeans, one was wearing a red sweater and the other wearing a grey hoody.
