Shortly before noon a 19 year old Owen Sound area man driving a pick-up truck, ran a red a light at 9th Street and 2nd Avenue West. At the same time a 56 year old Meaford woman, who was driving her 90 year old mother in a small sedan, entered the intersection on a green light. As a result, the two vehicles collided causing extensive damage to the sedan. The 90 year old mother sustained minor injuries and required attending the hospital. The male driver was charged with failing to stop for a red light.
Shortly after noon a 61 year old Collingwood area woman driving a SUV was trying to make a left turn into the Zehr’s driveway at 1150 16th Street East when she was struck by a vehicle travelling westbound in the curb lane. The woman believed it was safe to go when a vehicle in the pass lane stopped for her. She did not see the other vehicle, a small sedan which was being driven by a 59 year old Owen Sound man, until it was too late. The sedan contained a passenger who was not wearing her seatbelt. The collision resulted in the passenger striking her hear on the windshield cracking the windshield and cutting her forehead. Both vehicles sustained significant damage. The passenger was transported to hospital, treated for a head injury and later released. The Collingwood area woman was charged with failing to yield to through traffic. The passenger of the sedan was charged with not wearing her seatbelt.
