Two More Drinking Drivers Caught

(COLLINGWOOD AND THE BLUE MOUNTAINS, ON) Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted RIDE over the weekend which resulted in two motorists being charged for drinking and driving offences.

On Saturday January 14 2017 shortly before 2:00am, officers were conducting RIDE on Grey Road 19 when interactions with a driver revealed that he was under the influence of alcohol. The male driver was subjected to a roadside breath test which resulted in a ‘fail’ reading which led to his arrest and transport to detachment for processing.

Charged is 39 year-old Adam CAMPISANO from Niagara Falls, he is facing a charge of driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on February 14 2017.

As well on the same date at approximately 11:30pm, officers were conducting RIDE on Highway 26 when they observed an approaching vehicle make a U-turn and drive onto a side street. Officers were able to locate the car a short time later and proceeded to conduct a vehicle stop where it was found that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The male motorist was subjected to a roadside breath test which resulted in a ‘fail’ reading. He was arrested and transported to detachment for processing.

Charged is 55 year-old Roger DENT of Toronto, he is charged with driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on February 7 2017.

As well during the RIDE spot checks over the weekend, officers further charged two additional motorists, one with two counts of driving while license under suspension and another was issued a ‘warn range’ 3 day suspension related to alcohol consumption.

The motoring public is reminded that OPP officers conduct RIDE 24 hours a day, 7 days a week either during their regular patrols or at spot checks at varying locations. OPP is reminding Ontarians that they all have a role to play in keeping our roadways safe. Make a commitment to never drive after consuming alcohol or drugs. If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired, call 9-1-1 to report them to police. In doing so, you could be saving lives.
