Two More Drinking Drivers Caught

(ORILLIA, ON.) – Over the past weekend, the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received 119 calls for service. Police responded to calls received from Severn Township, Ramara Township, and the City of Orillia. The time frame is from Friday night at 6:00 p.m. until Monday morning at 6:00 a.m.

There were various calls for service consisting of noise complaints, alarms, 911 hang-ups, domestic/family disputes, Liquor Licence Act complaints, mischief complaints, numerous motor vehicle collisions and possible impaired drivers.

Over the weekend OPP officers charged 2 persons with impaired driving charges.

On February 24, 2017 Orillia OPP members were conducting a R.I.D.E. initiative on Laclie Street where a female entered the check stop. As a result of the stop police charged Laurel BIGGS, age 32, of Peterborough with:

Care and Control While Ability Impaired by Alcohol contrary to Section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

Care and Control Over 80 mg of Alcohol Contrary to Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

Possession of a Schedule II Substance Contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of March 21, 2017 at the Orillia Court of Justice.

On February 26, 2017 at approximately 7:15 a.m. Orillia OPP responded to a Motor Vehicle Collision on Westmount Drive. Officers responding to the call investigated and found Amber GABOURIE, age 26, of Orillia with Driving with More than 80mg of alcohol.

She is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia on March 14, 2017
