Two In Custody After Traffic Stop

(NORTH BAY, ON) – On January 7, 2016 at approximately 9 p.m., a member of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on patrol on Highway 17, City of North Bay operating a cruiser equipped with the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR). The ALPR alerted the officer the plate was registered to a stolen vehicle.

A traffic stop was then initiated on Highway 17 and came to a stop on Champlain Court in the city of North Bay. The occupant(s) then fled the vehicle. A ground search began with the assistance of North Bay Police Service, Anishinabek Police Service, OPP Canine and the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT). On January 8, 2015, two people were apprehended that are believed to be responsible and connected to the theft of this vehicle.

OPP is continuing their investigation and is asking any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible for this theft should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.
