(Huron East, ON) On August 2, 2010 at approximately 5:30 am a 911 call was received by police from a Vanastra residence reporting that four people had just broken into their home and assaulted them and had fled. Three people were inside the residence when the break in occurred. One victim suffered minor injuries. Outside, vehicles belonging to the victims were also damaged.
Huron OPP officers arrived on scene and began the investigation. Two males have been taken into custody and are facing numerous charges. The investigation remains ongoing and further arrests are expected. It is believed that the victims were targeted in this incident and that there is not a general public safety issue.
Conrad Joseph BURNS (33) of Huron East remains in custody and is facing one count of Break & Enter a Dwelling House, one count of Assault and two counts of Mischief Under $5,000. He is appearing in court in Goderich on August 3, 2010.
Bernie David KAUFMAN (21) of Huron East also remains in custody. He is facing one count of Break & Enter a Dwelling House, one count of Assault, two counts of Mischief Under $5,000 and one count of Fail to Comply with Undertaking. He is also appearing in court in Goderich on August 3, 2010.
