(Central Elgin, ON) – The Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two vehicle collision on Fairview Rd and John Wise Line just after 5:30p.m. on the 20th of September 2016 in Central Elgin, ON.
At this time it appears a 1999 blue Ford van was eastbound on John Wise Line and a 2013 grey Toyota car was southbound on Fairview. A motor vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of John Wise Line and Fairview Rd. The intersection is controlled by stop signs on John Wise Line.
As a result, two passengers, a male and female in the van were ejected as they were not wearing their seat belts. Both vehicles came to a rest off the roadway at the southeast side of the intersection.
Central Elgin Fire Rescue attended with St. Thomas Elgin ambulances. Paramedics and fire tended to the ejected individuals and others in the vehicles. Three people were transported to hospital by St. Thomas Elgin paramedics. One person from the car had minor injuries. The male from the van sustained minor injuries and the female sustained life-threatening injuries, at this time the female is listed in critical condition.
The OPP’s Technical Traffic Collision investigators are on scene to determine the cause of the motor vehicle collision.
There is currently no access to traffic around the collision scene. It is expected to be re-opened by the morning commute time.
Charges are pending as the investigation is still in the beginning stages.
