Two Drunk Drivers Busted

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers laid two over 80 charges and issued one three day warn range suspension over the weekend.

The first incident occurred on June 12, 2015, just after 8:30 p.m., a Chatham-Kent (OPP) officer stopped a Dodge pickup on Kent Bridge Road near Rose Beach Line, for a speeding violation. While the officer was speaking with the driver, 36 year old Dustin POISSANT, from Chatham, it was determined that he had been consuming alcoholic beverages. Subsequent tests indicated that the driver was over the legal limit and he will appear in a Chatham court on July 3, 2015, to answer to the charge of Driving With More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol In Blood.

The following day, June 13, 2015, just before midnight, a Chatham-Kent OPP officer stopped a Cadillac car on Highway 40 near Pine Line. While the officer was speaking with the driver, 62 year old Trevor SLATER, from Chatham, it was determined that he had been consuming alcoholic beverages. Subsequent tests indicated that the driver was over the legal limit and he will appear in a Chatham court on July 7, 2015, to answer to the charges of Driving With More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol In Blood and Driving While Ability Impaired.

On June 14, 2015, just after 3:00 p.m., a Chatham-Kent OPP officer stopped a Nissan car on Highway 401 westbound near Kennesserie Road, as a result of a traffic complaint of erratic driving. As the officer was speaking with the driver, 29 year old Lam Lian Khai THANG, from Kitchener, it was determined that he had been consuming alcoholic beverages. Further investigation revealed that the driver’s licence was expired and that he was required to drive a motor vehicle that was equipped with an ignition interlock. No interlock device was located in the vehicle. The driver was also found to be driving with an open container of liquor. As a result, the driver was served with a warn range three day driver’s licence suspension, and charged with Speeding, Driving With No Licence, Driving A Vehicle Not Equipped With An Ignition Interlock Device and Driving With Open Container Of Liquor. The vehicle was impounded for seven days as per statute, in regards to the ignition interlock offence. The driver is scheduled to appear in a Chatham court on July 8, 2015, to answer to the charges.
