Two Drunk Drivers Busted

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) from the City of Kawartha Lakes (CKL) detachment arrested two different persons for alcohol related driving offences on the weekend.

On October 2, 2015 at approximately 8:30 pm an officer conducted a vehicle stop in Bobcaygeon. The driver was found to have consumed an alcoholic beverage. An investigation was commenced and the driver, Justin MEYERINK, 28 years of age of St. Catherines, was arrested and charged with:

Driving with More than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)

Driving motor vehicle with open container of alcohol contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act (LLA)

Drive motor vehicle, no validation on plate contrary to section 7(1)(c) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)

The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on November 12, 2015.

On October 4, 2015 at approximately 10:40 pm an officer was dispatched to a single vehicle crash on Kawartha Lakes Road 121 north of Fenelon Falls. The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle sustained minor injuries. The driver was found to have been drinking alcohol and after an investigation Andrew OSMERCHUCK, 26 years of age, of Haliburton County was arrested and charged with Driving with More than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the CCC. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on October 29, 2015.
