(FORT FRANCES, ON) – On the morning of Tuesday, March 7, 2017, officers from the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for assistance at a residence in the Lakeview Trailer Park. When they arrived, they located two deceased persons in the residence.
The victims have been identified as 66-year old Carol AFFLECK and 77-year old Lovern AFFLECK, both of Fort Frances, Ontario.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, the OPP has now charged 37-year old Tyler John COUSINEAU of Fort Frances, Ontario with two counts of Second Degree Murder, contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code.
Mr. Cousineau is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Division located in Kenora on March 8, 2017.
Members of the Rainy River District OPP Detachment along with the OPP North West Region Crime Unit and the OPP Forensic Identification Unit from Kenora, continue to investigate this incident under the direction of Detective Inspector Randy Heida of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
