Two Deceased Found In Biscotasi Lake – Alcohol And No Life Jackets A Factor

(SOUTH PORCUPINE, ON) – On June 4, 2018, at approximately 7:20 p.m. members from the South Porcupine Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a marine-related incident in Biscotasi Lake. Two deceased males and an empty vessel were located next to Dead Horse Island, which is approximately 60 kilometres south west of Gogama, Ontario.

The two males have been identified as Dave ZELINSKI, 58 years of age, and Craig ZELINSKI, 55 years of age, both from Hamilton, Ontario.

The OPP North East Region Criminal Investigation Unit and Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) were called in to assist with the investigation. It has been determined that alcohol was a factor and that life jackets were not worn.

A post mortem examination has been scheduled for June 6, 2018. The investigation is ongoing.
