On Wednesday April 27th, 2016 Owen Sound Police responded to two reported motor vehicle collisions that resulted in three parties attending hospital.
The first collision occurred at the intersection of 8th Street and 4th Avenue East shortly after 8 am. A southbound vehicle on 4th Avenue East, driven by a 55 year old Owen Sound area man, collided with a vehicle being driven eastbound on 8th Street. The female driver of the eastbound vehicle was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure. Both vehicles involved sustained substantial damage and had to be towed from the scene. The male driver has been charged with failing to yield to traffic.
The second collision happened at the intersection of 10th Street and 9th Avenue West shortly before 1 pm. An eastbound vehicle being driven by a 76 year old Owen Sound female attempted to make a left turn from 10th Street onto 9th Avenue West. The turning vehicle collided with a westbound vehicle which resulted in major damage to both of the vehicles involved. Both drivers were transported to hospital by EMS with minor injuries. The driver of the turning vehicle has been charged with left turn- fail to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid collision.
