Two Children Airlifted To Hospital Following Fatal Hwy 7 Collision

(OTONABEE-SOUTH MONAGHAN TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews were called to assist at a serious collision on Highway 7 near Blezard Line shortly before 2:30pm today.

Two vehicles collided in a head-on style crash. One of the drivers, a 51 year-old female from the Havelock area, died at the scene.

The driver of the second vehicle is being treated for non-life threatening injuries at an area hospital. A 7 year-old female and a 2 year-old male, who were passengers in this vehicle, were air lifted to a Toronto area trauma centre with serious injuries.

Highway 7 between Villiers and Cameron Line will remain closed for several hours, while OPP members trained in collision reconstruction measure and document the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation and the identity of the victim will not be released until next of kin are notified.
