(MISSISSAUGA FIRST NATION, ON) – On September 16, 2016, a member of the Mississauga First Nation Police Service (MFNPS) was on regular patrol duties at the Territory of Mississauga First Nation.
Shortly after 5:30 p.m., the officer observed two males fishing at the Mississaugi River Falls, off of Highway 17. The officer determined the two males were not band members of the First Nation and did not have permission to access the land to fish.
As a result of the investigation both men were issued provincial offence notices.
Yurty BON, 30 years of age, from North York, Ontario, was charged with: Trespass for the Purpose of Fishing, contrary to section 10(1)(c) of the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act (FWCA).
Aleksandrs ZILEVICS, 25 years of age, from Barrie, Ontario, was charged with: Trespass for the Purpose of Fishing, contrary to section 10(1)(c) of the FWCA.
UNLICENSED DRIVER CHARGED
(BLIND RIVER, ON) – On September 17, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general patrol duties in the Town of Blind River.
Shortly before 11:00 a.m., police observed an eastbound vehicle on Causley Street with an expired validation sticker. A traffic stop was initiated. As a result of the investigation, the driver was also found to be unlicensed.
Joseph BRAY, 29 years of age from Blind River, Ontario, was issued two provincial offence notices and charged with:
Drive Motor Vehicle, No Currently Validated permit, contrary to section 7(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA); and
Drive Motor Vehicle-No License, contrary to section 32(1) of the HTA.
MALE CHARGED WITH NO INSURANCE
(BLIND RIVER ON)- On September 18, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general patrol duties on Causley Street in the Town of Blind River.
Shortly after 12:30 p.m., police observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Causley Street. A traffic stop was initiated. As a result of the investigation, the vehicle was found not to be insured. The vehicle was later towed.
Nijat MAHARRAMOV, 24 years of age, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, was charged with: Operate Motor Vehicle on a Highway-No Insurance, contrary to section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on November 23, 2016.
INTOXICATED MALE CHARGED
(BLIND RIVER, ON)- On September 18, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general patrol duties in the Town of Blind River.
Shortly after 12:00 a.m., police observed a male on Woodward Avenue who was stumbling on the sidewalk. Police engaged in conversation with the male, and quickly realized the male was highly intoxicated. The male was arrested and lodged at Blind River detachment until he was sober.
Ronald PURDY, 54 years of age, from Mississauga, Ontario, was charged with: Being Intoxicated in a Public Place, contrary to section 31(4) of the Liquor Licence Act.
