(SPANISH, ON)- On July 07, 2016, shortly after 8:00 p.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Drug Action Team (CDAT) with the assistance of Sudbury Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) and OPP Canine Unit conducted a joint patrol in the Town of Spanish.
Police observed a westbound vehicle travelling on Highway 17 through the Town of Spanish. A traffic stop was initiated. During a subsequent search OPP Canine located a small amount of cocaine.
As a result of the investigation, Pete MACDONALD, 48 years of age, from Elliot Lake, Ontario, was charged with: Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Myra SOUTHWIND, 39 years old, from Elliot Lake, Ontario, was charged with: Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Both accused are schedule to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on September 6, 2016.
