(TOWNSHIP OF GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On April 27, 2017 at approximately 6:27 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on Hwy. 6 north of Hwy. 21 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs between a 2001 Ford min-van, operating as a taxi, and a 1999 Honda passenger vehicle, that occurred as a result of a road rage incident which was witnessed by other motorists.
Investigation revealed that the Honda was being driven erratically, east bound on Bruce Road 8. It had passed the Ford van, forcing the van to move to the shoulder of the road. The driver of the Ford then pursued the Honda, continuing east bound on Hwy. 6; resulting in both vehicles being driven aggressively; passing vehicles unsafely; causing a risk to other motorists. Once in the Springmount area, the Honda braked very suddenly causing the Ford to slam into the rear of the vehicle.
Fortunately no one was injured.
35-year old Daniel Leonard GOHEEN, of Georgian Bluffs, driver of the Honda, and 44-year old Daniel Matthew DEVINE, of South Bruce Peninsula, driver of the Ford, were both charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle under the Criminal Code.
Both accused are scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on June 1, 2017 to speak to the charges.
