(MATTAWA, ON) – On November 28, 2015, Mattawa Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began an investigation of a report of a child being bitten by a dog. After completing their investigation charges have now been laid.
Arrested and charged are Danielle MURPHY, age 23 and Collin WALTERS, age 30, of Papineau-Cameron Township. They are charged with;
Fail to Provide Necessaries of Life – Child or Spouse , contrary to section 215(2)(a i) of the Criminal Code (CC);
Obstruct Peace Officer , contrary to section 129(a) CC;
Public Mischief, contrary to section 140(1)(b) CC;
Owner of dog – Fail to prevent biting or attacking a person or domestic animal, contrary to section 5.1., Dog’s Owner Liability Act.
Both accused were released from police custody and are to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay, Ontario on January 5, 2016.
Through the investigation it was learnt that the incident happened at a residence in Papineau-Cameron Township and the dog has since been put down.
