(NORWICH TOWNSHIP, ON.) – The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to a residence on North Court Street in Norwich to a report of a break and enter in progress.
On August 28, 2014, shortly after 4:00 a.m., the homeowner was alerted to noises in his attached garage. The homeowner went to investigate and witnessed two male suspects fleeing his garage on foot. The OPP Canine Unit was called in to assist, and both males were arrested a short time later.
The homeowner was a victim of three previous break, enter and thefts from his residence within the last month. Through further investigation, additional charges were laid against both males in relation to several area break, enter and thefts which occurred overnight and over the past several months in Norwich.
A 16 year old male youth from Norwich, is charged with the following offences:
Break, Enter and Theft – Dwelling House
Trespassing at Night
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5000
Theft from Motor Vehicle -Under $5,000
Fail to Comply with Recognizance
The youth who cannot be identified according to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was held in custody for a bail hearing.
Dameon GOVIER, 18 years old from Woodstock, is charged with the following offences:
Break, Enter and Theft – Dwelling House (5 Counts)
Theft from Motor Vehicle -Under $5000
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5,000
Trespassing at Night
GOVIER was released on a Promise to Appear and an Officer in Charge Undertaking for a future court date.
The investigation is continuing with further charges pending.
